Porthkerris dive trip
August the 30th to the 1st of September
Over this long weekend, we will be down in Porthkerris on the south coast of Cornwall. This is a lovely little bay on the east coast of the Lizard peninsular which has been set up for scuba diving with accommodation and camping on site plus a dive shop, filling station, and a cafe on the beach. There are two beaches, the main one slopes off slowly giving you the chance to dive in the forest of kelp looking for all teh marine life the kelp supports. The other beach slopes off faster until you reach 3 lines of rocky reefs which again are just full of life.

Also from the beach, the dive centre there runs two boats to take you out to explore the local wrecks and reefs and if you fancy something unbelievably beautiful, you can take a trip out to dive the Manicals reef with an abundance of Jewel anemones in yellow, blues, reds, pinks, and greens, as colourful as any tropical reef.
If the weather is good enough we will hopefully get the chance to go out and and swim with the blue sharks. This is an amazing experience and we are so lucky to get the chance to spend time with these amazing creatures.

The cost of this trip depends on what you would like to do so I will break it down for you. The onsite accommodation includes unlimited shore diving and is based on staying 3 nights (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights) but you don't have to stay for every night if you don't want to or have to get back for work. We have booked the log cabin which is £99 for the 3 nights per person. Camping is £15 per person per night or if you would like electricity that goes up to £22. There are other rooms available in the main building starting at £70 per person per night which we can use if we get a lot of interest.
As I mentioned above, the shore diving is included in the cost of the accommodation but if you would like to head further out the places on the boats range from £65 to £80 for two boat dives a day depending on which boat you would like to use.
Equipment hire price from the dive club can be found
here
The Blue Shark trip lasts all day and does involve a long trip out to deep water and as such is £150 per person and there is a minimum age of 16 for those trips.
